John C. Lin, M.D.
Dr. Lin has a well-rounded background. He graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in psychobiology in 1989. After working in entertainment business management with a Beverly Hills financial firm and founding a computer consulting business, he pursued a career in medicine at Saint Louis University School of Medicine where he graduated with a Distinction in Research. He completed a six-year urologic surgery training program in 2003 and initially practiced in Lake Havasu City, relocating there with his wife and their yellow Labrador retriever.
A very organized, personable, and forward-thinking physician-leader, Dr. Lin has been a urologic Practice Management speaker for the American Urological Association and was nominated as Physician of the Year in Lake Havasu City in 2004. His interest in health information technology has led him to serve as an adviser to Google Health. He has consulted for large urology groups on practice and Electronic Health Record (EHR) optimization. Dr. Lin served on the American Urological Association advisory board (Health Information Technology workgroup) on evaluation, adoption, and utilization of electronic health records and telemedicine. He is an often-invited speaker at urology practice management, coding, and billing conferences.
As a result of the efficient electronic workflow he has developed, his practice has so far been visited by physicians, administrators, billers, and other support staff from the fields of urology, dermatology, general surgery, cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, rheumatology, and physical medicine and rehabilitation, family practice located in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Nevada, North Carolina, Utah, and Vermont. Dr. Lin is currently on staff at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and Center for Advanced Surgery. Dr. Lin’s services have been sought by a hospital’s Chief of Staff, hospital Department Chairman, fellow physicians and their families, hospital staff, and even the family member of a local urologist.
Surgery is sometimes required for a patient’s condition. Dr. Lin works closely and coordinates with the surgical and nursing staff by constantly and clearly communicating the special requirements of his patients to achieve consistently optimal surgical outcomes.
Dr. Lin is certified by the American Board of Urology and National Board of Physicians and Surgeons, and is a member of the American Urological Association (AUA), Western Section of the AUA, Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), and the Arizona Medical Association (ArMA).
Medicine is a continually changing science. Dr. Lin stays current with the latest treatment methods by regularly attending seminars such as the UCLA State of the Art Urology course as well as through other meetings and numerous academic journals. Dr. Lin’s continuing education hours exceed the minimum standards set by the state of Arizona.
Dr. Lin’s staple reading includes Medical Economics, Physician Practice, Contemporary Urology, Journal of Urology, among others in and outside the field of urology.
Dr. Lin enjoys monoskiing, fishing (he has placed in several Pro-Am tournaments), amateur radio, learning and applying advances in urologic technology, shooting sports (he is a Lifetime Member of the NRA and USPSA, and is a NRA-certified Pistol Instructor and Range Safety Officer), flying remote controlled helicopters and multi-rotors (“drones”), and digital photography. Dr. Lin has photographed destination weddings from Florida to California, covered the Beverly Hills Hotel Oscar Viewing Parties, and captured life-defining moments such as a cesarean section delivery. He has also captured images at an NHL game as a media photographer. You can often find him on local high school football sidelines capturing photos. Dr. Lin and his wife have three children, and have had multiple rescued dogs.
Dr. Lin regularly hosts Facebook Live shows, highlighting personalities who work in health and related fields and discusses healthcare related topics.
